ROHINI-AMIT HOME TOUR.

Today I have the pleasure of giving you a peek in the living room of architect couple Rohini-Amit in Mumbai.
Rohini is a very beautiful soft spoken woman and a mother of two young girls.

There is a calmness in her which is very rare in a person who manages a successful career, house and interest in painting and this serenity is reflected in the interiors of her house.

Rohini has held painting exhibitions in Mumbai and at her residence one gets to see some of her artwork.

Being a designer-artist she has an eye for detail which one sees in the way she has displayed the artefacts.

TELEPHONE NUMBER

I don’t know how many of you have experienced this situation in life, this is my second experience-change of telephone number by the telephone exchange department.

Last month we were informed that all telephone lines from our area are being shifted to another telephone exchange so our telephone number will change and yesterday happened to be the day.

Telephone exchange department job done now our work started. To begin with I had to make my mother a silver citizen rote the new number. Then I entrusted her with the responsibility of informing all relatives and her friends of the change, a job she gladly did as she got to chit chat with all.

In this era of mobile phones and smart phones( which many times makes me realise how dumb I am when I can’t manage to do some simple functions on it)we still need the landline for one-our internet connection and secondly many citizens find them more convenient to use due to the large display of keys.

Mom’s job done now it was my turn to inform all my friends, clients and many from my contact list of the change which thanks to whatsapp and messaging I managed to do in a jiffy.Few foreign contacts were updated on facebook.

As I was doing this I just realised that all people in my area must today be doing the same.

If you think the work ends there no it doesn’t now the visiting cards, letterheads and banks have to be updated.

SUKH SHANTI SAMRUDDHI

Last month I happened to visit a newly opened jewellery showroom on Gudi padva day that is the maharashtrian new year with my aunt.As I was looking around the display in the showroom I happened to see this elephant statue.Seeing me looking at the statue the sales girl immediately kept it in front of me on the counter and started describing its qualities to me.It is a marble statue with silver gold plating. She told me it is called Gajanantha laxmi and it is very auspicious to keep it at home.At that moment my aunt joined us and asked me whether I had one at home.I told her this is the first time I have heard of it and seen it.After describing the importance of the statue in hindu religion my aunt and the salesgirl managed to convince me to buy it.Normally I would not have purchased it but since it was Gudi padva-new year and one buys something for the house plus it was reasonably priced I purchased it.My aunt immediately gave me instructions as to the placing in the house-it has to be kept facing the north.

The Gajanantha laxmi statue characteristics are it has right leg forward, gomukh on forehead, ganesh, deer, peacock ,lotus motif on the elephant body. They say keeping it in north facing direction brings SUKH SHANTI AND SAMRUDDHI.

Immediately within one month’s time a friend on the occasion of her son’s wedding gifted all the guests a Kamdhenu cow statue.
The Kamdhenu cow is called wish fulfilling cow. They say the cow was one of the ratnas that came out during the samudhra manthan. It is said all the gods and goddesses dwell in it.The four legs have the four Vedas,on the eyes is surya(sun) and Chandra (moon),on the face lord shiva,on the neck lord Vishnu, mahalaxmi on the tail.Kamdhenu is a wish fulfilling cow it grants all your desires. The cow comes with the calf and keeping it in the house it brings SUKH SHANTI AND SAMRUDDHI.
With two holy figures coming to my house within a gap of one month I think I am truly blessed.
